| Swoop-n-Chug contest at Skydive Chicago, June 2004, for Project
Horizon III. I was coming in too hot, so I decided to grab the beer
on my way by. I ended up winning with a score of 16 seconds. |
Malfunctions:
9 or 10 cutaways (lost count). Pretty much every single one was line
twists that I couldn't kick out of. (I have many false portions of teeth
due to the 3 rings under a lot of tension coming across my face upon
cutting away! Then I learned to start covering my mouth with my left
hand.) You end up on your back spinning at the ground under a high performance
canopy having no idea what altitude is being burned. One time I managed
to actually pull both toggles until I could tell which one I had to
pull more of, and upon doing so, stopped the spin. But I wouldnt necessarily
recommend that... :o)
Most Memorable Jump:
Jumping into Lane Stadium with 7 other friends for the home opener
against Syracuse in 1997 or 1998 - I forget which year.
Jump Philosophy:
Enjoy every moment of the sport and if you have a malfunction - don't
worry. You have the rest of your life to pull the reserve.
